Maple's Doghouse Rules

ALL DOGS MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF UP-TO-DATE VACCINATIONS

  • Vaccinations required include; Bordetella, Rabies, and Distemper (Distemper is often included in a combination vaccine and may appear on vet records as D, DHPP, DA2PP, DHPPV, DA2PPV, or DA2PPC).
  • We also require some sort of up-to-date and YEAR ROUND flea/tick/lice treatment. Every dog is required to have this due to rising Lyme disease risks, and the constant risk of fleas as a dog related pest. PREFERABLE prevention is vet prescribed (Revolution, Frontline, etc.) but we do accept over the counter alternatives, however Maple’s Doghouse does NOT recommend the brand HARTZ as it has been known to corrode animal skin. Treatment must be applied AT LEAST two days before coming to Maple’s for full effectiveness.
  • Proof of vaccinations and pest treatment is required. Vaccination records can be emailed to us at maplesdoghouse@gmail.com, uploaded on your ProPet account, or brought to us in person to make hard copies.
  • We do accept appropriate Titer tests along with proof of the tests.
  • Puppies under 14 weeks will only be accepted if they have had their 2nd round of vaccinations. Please call us or speak to your vet if you are unsure of this requirement.
  • Keeping up-to-date and accurate medical records is the responsibility of pet parents and must be shown upon the first visit to Maple’s and at the request of Maple’s staff.

DOGS OVER 6 MONTHS MUST BE FIXED

  • Puppies OVER 6 months of age must be either spayed or neutered. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Puppies UNDER 6 months of age do not need to be fixed to come to Maple’s.
  • Proof of spay/neuter surgery must be provided to Maple’s Doghouse.
  • Some dogs can start heat cycles as young as 4 months old. All owners must assume the risk of bringing an unfixed puppy to Maple’s.

LEASHES

  • All dogs coming to Maple’s must come on a proper leash. (No frayed ropes, belts, lanyards attached to collars, etc.)
  • We DO NOT recommend RETRACTABLE LEASHES. If you must use a retractable leash, we ask that when in Maple’s Doghouse it is SHORT and in the LOCKED position.
  • At Maple’s we ask that you understand that dogs are animals and can be unpredictable in unforeseen situations. Leashes are the safest and best way to control your dog in times of conflict.

ALL NEW DOGS MUST COMPLETE AN ASSESSMENT DAY

  • New dogs wanting to come to Maple’s for either daycare or overnight stays must complete and assessment day at $23.00/day. These days can be booked with staff over email, phone, or through the ProPet Portal.
  • Assessment days are FULL DAYS of daycare (up to 12 hours) and we will assess if your dog is suitable for daycare.
  • A FAILED assessment means that your dog is not a good fit for Maple’s Doghouse. This includes: overt and excessive aggression towards staff or dogs; EXCESSIVE anxiety (panting, pacing, jumping out of playrooms, generally keeping to themselves and not enjoying their time); EXTREME lack of manners (harassing staff, not listening, mouthing, biting, etc.)
  • We understand that it may not be possible for out-of-town guests to complete an assessment day. We will take dogs that have been booked WITHOUT an assessment, but owners must assume the risk that if their dog is EXTREMELY UNSUITABLE it may result in the need to come pick up the dog.
